KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 19 — Malaysian Ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz hosted several dignitaries in Washington DC on August 15 as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Among the attendees were former Unesco goodwill ambassador Esther Coopersmith, who is a household name and prominent figure in the United States’ public diplomatic circle due to her vast experience dating back to the administration of Harry Truman, the 33rd US President.

The event dubbed “An Evening with Friends of Malaysia” was also held in conjunction with celebrations for the 66th anniversary of bilateral ties between the two countries whose cooperation under the Malaysia-US Comprehensive Partnership will also enter its 10th year in 2024.

A special Teh Tarik showcase and a selection of Malaysia’s best cuisines featuring the Nasi Dagang Terengganu was served, and guests were regaled by renowned mentalists Kabir Khan as part of the night’s entertainment.

More than a personalised invitation from Nazri and his wife, Datin Seri Haflin, the embassy said the event was also part of ongoing diplomatic efforts to further enhance Malaysia’s diplomatic and economic ties with the United States.
