KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 — The Health Ministry recorded 3,047 new Covid-19 cases today, a small drop of about 300 cases from yesterday’s numbers.

This marks the fifth consecutive day since the total daily new cases were recorded at above 3,000.

Yesterday, a total 3,346 new cases were recorded.

Of the new cases reported today, one per cent or 30 cases were placed under Categories 3, 4 and 5 while the remaining 99 per cent or 3,044 cases are under Categories 1 and 2.

A total 193 of the patients are warded in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nationwide while 90 cases require ventilator assistance.

A total 10 new clusters were identified today bringing the total active clusters to 176.

The country’s infectivity rate, Rt, remained at 1.00 today in which Kuala Lumpur recorded the highest Rt rate at 1.08 among all the states.

This was followed by an Rt of 1.06 in Putrajaya, 1.05 in Sabah, 1.02 in Melaka and 1.01 in Negeri Sembilan.

Terengganu recorded the lowest Rt of 0.80 while Sarawak, Perlis and Labuan have an infectivity rate of 0.
