KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 23 — The legends of Langkawi will come to life with immersive technology at Dream Forest Langkawi in a unique multi-sensory production.

Opening May 1 2023, the 1.2 km forest will be transformed at night into a magical experience for visitors and tourists, with the night trail of Dream Forest Langkawi to feature characters and creatures from Malay legends like Merong Mahawangsa, Mat Teja, Mambang Sari and Gedembai among others.

Billed as ‘Malaysia’s first immersive night attraction’, the production which has been four years in the making, is helmed by Enfiniti Group president Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina.

“I believe we have a wealth of stories in our own backyard that we can share with the world through different mediums,” she said at a media launch yesterday.

“I challenged my team to take a step back and look at how we could use our creative skills honed over the years... how could we stray true to telling stories but present them differently?”

Speaking to Malay Mail after, she shared how she felt the project was a culmination of her career.

“After 30 years of telling stories, it’s come full circle.

“I started out dancing in a cultural performing troupe and throughout my time in acting, theatre, and now tourism I’ve always been figuring out how to profile our country’s stories to the world.”

Tiara said the effort represented her desire to pass down local tales and folklore to the younger generation and tourists using projection mapping, cutting-edge light works and soundscapes.

Tiara shared that using the advanced technology in the forest was challenging but it was able to be executed with help from her technical and animation team.

The Puteri Gunung Ledang star hopes to create more installations and immersive storytelling in other states of Malaysia.

Located at the foot of Gunung Raya, the Dream Forest is a biodiverse ecosystem that visitors can walk through and experience unique local animals like the hornbill and flying lemurs.

Tickets are at RM68 for adults, RM48 for children and RM28 for senior citizens for Malaysians, while non-Malaysians will be charged RM98 for adults, RM68 for children and RM38 for senior citizens.
