Mainstay Entertainment Producing Doc On Tennis Star Aleksandra Krunic
EXCLUSIVE: Mainstay Entertainment is producing a documentary on professional tennis player Aleksandra Krunic. Norman Aladjem and Madeleine Buisseret are producing for Mainstay along with sports documentarian Natalie Jowett, who wrote and directed an Emmy-winning documentary on the tragedy of the 1972 Munich Olympics and was nominated for an Emmy as a producer on the NFL Network documentary America’s Game and the Iran Hostage Crisis.
Production is scheduled to begin April 8 at the Billie Jean King Cup (the female version of the Davis Cup) in Lisbon. No distribution has been set.

The documentary will focus on the reality of what it’s really like being a professional athlete away from all the glitz and glamour we’ve become so used to seeing. The conceit of the project is to highlight the antithesis of the global star both on and, more importantly, off the court.
Mainstay has cultivated a diverse slate of projects across platforms. Feature films in development include the adaptation of Trevor Noah’s bestselling memoir Born a Crime starring Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o for Paramount and the genre-bending vampire Western The Sun Always Sets in the West set up at Lionsgate.
On the small screen, Mainstay is producing Patti Stanger: The Matchmaker for the CW, which premieres April 11; Disappeared: The Bradley Sisters for Discovery ID (along with its accompanying podcast); De Viajes Con Los Derbez (Season 4 is currently airing on Univision and Amazon International); and a series of I Am documentary films for the CW.
Jowett is a writer, producer, director and visual artist who during 12 years as a senior features producer at ABC Sports and ESPN won multiple awards, and covered some of sports’ greatest events including World Cups, Super Bowls, Triple Crown horse racing and the Tour de France.
