Maine Police Officer Performs 'Disinfectant Blues' From Cruiser

A police officer in South Portland, Maine, combined timely lyrics with soulful guitar riffs to create Disinfectant Blues on April 26, full of musical reminders about best practices during the coronavirus pandemic.

The South Portland Police Department shared this footage of Officer Al Giusto belting out his bluesy tune while playing a resonator guitar in his police vehicle. In the song, Giusto’s lyrics remind people to “wash your hands, mask your face, stay away.”

“This is what happens when you put the school resource officer back on patrol,” the South Portland Police Department said on Facebook.

The department said the song was written, produced, and sung by Giusto, who also plays the blues under the stage name “Fat Knuckle Freddy.” Credit: South Portland Police Department via Storyful
