Magician Embarrassed After Fiery Illusion 'Exposed'

A young audience hurled plastic bottles at a magician during his show in Shenzhen, China, after a fiery illusion of his was exposed by a peer.

Footage of the performance shows an apparently empty frame at first — aside from a few flames added for drama — before it’s covered with a sheet by a magician who goes by the name Embarrassing Man (the reasons for which soon become obvious).

Once the sheet is removed from the frame, within seconds a boy appears crouching inside, with Embarrassing Man initially taking plaudits.

When a fellow magician by the name of Pokerface Man enters the performance area, however, a secret compartment within the frame is exposed.

Based in Shenzhen, China, Pokerface Man and Embarrassing Man regularly post videos to Kuaishou, a Chinese video-sharing app, where the Pokerface Man account has over 720,000 followers.

The account focuses on humorous revelations of the secrets behind Embarrassing Man’s tricks.

Pokerface Man, real name Hao Yakun, developed an interest in magic in 2009, and alongside developing a large online following in the years since, he also teaches courses on magic for budding illusionists, according to a Chinese media report. Credit: Pokerface Man via Storyful
