MAGA Attorney Proposes Seizing Liz Cheney’s Assets as Jan. 6 Rioter Restitution
An attorney representing a Jan. 6 defendant levied a head-scratching proposal this week: Seizing the assets of Liz Cheney and diverting them to “J6ers” as restitution.
The bizarre idea came during a news conference by David Clements, who also asserted “there needs to be a law that protects the J6ers as a protected class” so they are not discriminated against in the U.S. workforce.
Clements asked that Donald Trump pardon his client, Jacob Lang, and others who stormed—or are accused of storming—the U.S. Capitol four years ago. Once that’s done, Clements wants to see some of Trump’s political opponents arrested and their funds diverted the MAGA supporters who were prosecuted over the 2021 capitol riot.
Former prosecutor and professor David Clements argued yesterday during the January 6 Pardon Press Conference that January 6ers should receive both pardons from Trump and restitution.

“We want restitution,” Clements said. “There’s ways to go about getting restitution. Everyone on the unselect committee is actually guilty... When you look at obstruction, real obstruction, when you apply the black letter law, the Liz Cheney’s of the world violated that statute.”
Cheney, an ex-lawmaker who endorsed Kamala Harris for president last fall, was one of two Republicans who served on the United States House Select Committee that was tasked with probing the Capitol incident. The other, Adam Kinzinger, has also left public office.
Clements, a former professor turned full-time Trump fanatic and attorney, said Monday that restitution for rioters is “just the beginning” with Trump returning to office.
In comments directed at those convicted of Jan. 6 crimes, he said there “should be civil asset forfeiture and assets should be taken, and that should be the money that’s used to make you all whole.”
He asked that Trump issue a sweeping pardon to J6ers within his first nine minutes in office.
“Four years have been lost,” he said. “People have been devastated, and justice demands that we make it right. So day one, day one, day one, President Trump. Within the first nine minutes, we want those doors open. We want to march over to the the D.C. gulag and we want be there waiting for our brothers and sisters to come out and welcome them back to society as heroes.”
