Madrid Authorities Work to Stabilize Area Near Explosion

At least three people were killed, several were injured, and one person remained missing after an explosion destroyed a building near the Puerta de Toledo in Madrid, Spain, on January 20, officials said.

Four floors of a building on Calle de Toledo were severely damaged by the explosion. Local news reports said the explosion was believed to have been caused by a gas leak and investigations were underway.

Footage posted by Bomberos Madrid, the city’s fire department, shows crews stabilizing area buildings that were damaged in the explosion and surveying the blast site.
