Madonna apologizes after 'politically incorrect' moment she called out audience member for sitting at concert

The pop icon roasted herself for the exchange that happened during a Los Angeles stop on the Celebration Tour.

Madonna channeled the lyrics to her 2005 hit "Sorry" when she roasted herself for calling out an audience member for sitting down during a recent performance on her Celebration Tour.

In footage taken by a fan at the concert's March 9 stop in Los Angeles, Madonna paused the set to address the crowd at the Kia Forum, before heading over to confront an audience member who seemingly remained seated while others stood around them.

"What are you doing sitting down over there?" Madonna asked before walking toward them, then taking back her words once she got closer to the person. "Oh, okay. Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here."

Though it has been widely reported that the person was in a wheelchair, it's unclear in the video why Madonna let up on her initial sentiment — the audience member can't be seen in a wheelchair, nor does the 65-year-old pop icon refer to such a device in the clip.

EW has reached out to representatives for Madonna for more information.

Elsewhere during the tour's multi-show run in Los Angeles, Madonna opened up about her recent health struggles — including a serious bacterial infection that postponed the tour's initially announced launch date and, as she told the crowd, nearly killed her in the process.

"I would call in every other day and ask [my doctor] why I didn’t have any energy, when was my energy going to come back, when was I going to feel myself again, when can I go on tour again?" Madonna told concertgoers, which included part of the medical team responsible for her recovery. "All he would say is, ‘'Go outside, in the sun.'"

Madonna also revealed that she had trouble navigating her home as she recovered, but "did it anyway" to build back enough strength to perform on the road.

"It was so hard for me to walk from my house to the backyard and sit in the sun. I know that sounds insane, but it was difficult, and I didn’t know when I could get up again, when I could be myself again, and when I’d have my energy back," she explained. "It’s a strange thing to finally not feel like I was in control, and that was my lesson: to let go. Thank you to everyone who’s here that took care of me and listened to all of my endless complaining and need for predictions that I could not have. You’re patient and you’re kind. You still are."
