Hands up if you had no idea Mabel's mum is none other than Neneh Cherry? *Raises hand*. The 'Mad Love' singer, who opened the Brit Awards 2020 with a rendition of 'Don't Call Me Up', won Best Female Solo Artist on Tuesday night, and while she was on stage she reminded the crowd that her mum had also won 30 years ago.

"Wow, this is so wild. It’s been a crazy journey and I just want to say that there are so many amazing women in this category so it’s really an honour to have this," she told the audience before going on to shout-out her famous mum, who won two awards back in 1990.

Swedish singer-songwriter Neneh picked up gongs for International Breakthrough Act and International 30 years ago today.

Fortunately, it turns out we weren't the only ones who didn't realise Mabel, 23, had such a famous mum. This was most of Twitter tonight:

Earlier on in the night, Mabel and Neneh also walked the red carpet together. Speaking to reporters, Mabel said: "It’s actually 30 years since my mum performed at the Brits and it’s just so amazing and such a lovely, sort of full-circle moment. Mainly I just feel so honoured to be here tonight, it’s been such a journey."

And when her award was announced no one looked prouder than her mum, who gave her a huge hug.
