“Maya’s expertise, keen eye for meaningful content and determination to continue the work that needs to be done for underrepresented voices, are a perfect addition to our growing M88 team. I am very excited to have her join us,” Sun said in a statement announcing Rodrigo’s new position.

Rodrigo most recently served as a creative executive for QC Entertainment, the production and finance company behind the Academy Award-winning films “Get Out” & “BlacKkKlansman,” where she worked to identify, cultivate and shepherd projects across the company’s film and television slates. Rodrigo also served as an associate producer on QC’s “The Oath,” written, directed by and starring Ike Barinholtz, with Tiffany Haddish and John Cho.

The independently-operated representation firm, led by Sun and partners Oronde Garrett, Jelani Johnson and Gaby Mena, was founded in August 2020 with the mission to “support and amplify the next generation of artists and cultural leaders from the global new majority.” M88 — which gets its “M” from Macro and uses the “88” as a nod to Sun’s Chinese heritage — counts Alexa Daniel, Gerald Lee, Jerome Martin and Natalia Williams as managers.

The firm’s robust client roster includes Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba and Sabrina Dhowre Elba, Donald Glover, Ryan Coogler, Marsai Martin, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Naomi Scott, Gemma Chan, Caleb McLaughlin, Sullivan Stapleton, Corey Calliet, Blitz “The Ambassador” Bazawule, Eboni Freeman, Herizen F. Guardiola, Issa López, Kofi Siriboe, Van Lathan, Folake Olowofoyeku and Luke James.
