Tracking the $5.1 billion the US has spent on Covid-19 medical research

On July 6, the US government announced an investment of $1.6 billion to support pharmaceutical company Novartex in the development of 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines by early 2021. This is just the latest large investment made by the US in Covid-19 medical research: Since Feb. 11, the US government has handed out nearly $5 billion in funding, most of which in vaccine development.
