‘I’m Shocked’: Mary Trump Poses 1 Big Question In The Wake Of Uncle’s Victory
Mary Trump on Sunday started a Q&A with her followers by first posing a major question: “Where do we go from here?”
“As far as I’m aware, the House still hasn’t been called, but leaving that aside to the extent that we can, the results we received on Tuesday were the worst, literally the worst possible scenario that we could have expected,” she told viewers of Mary Trump Media’s weekly “Ask Mary Anything... within Reason” forum.
“I almost feel like we shouldn’t be surprised, but I’m shocked,” she continued. “I am questioning all sorts of things about my belief system, the concept of evolution. I don’t know. Just how, how, how this happened. I’m trying really hard to take the personal stuff out.”
Mary Trump, a psychologist, has authored several books about her uncle, President-elect Donald Trump, and the problematic family dynamics that helped form his divisive personality.
She said Sunday it’s now “irrelevant” who her uncle is and how he got to be that way.
“Apparently, not enough people care,” she said. “So that’s not what we’re talking about anymore. What we’re going to be talking about is, what are we going to do about it?”
The Republican president-elect swept all seven swing states and appears on track to win the popular vote. Republicans also reclaimed control of the Senate.
The final popular vote results may not be confirmed for weeks, but the current count has Trump at 50.3% of the vote and Vice President Kamala Harris with a 48% share, with many West Coast votes, which lean blue, yet to be counted.
Mary Trump reminded viewers that that’s not a landslide victory.
“I think we’re looking at like a 51-49 margin,” she predicted. “So don’t let anybody tell you it was a rout.”
As she tried to pinpoint one element that most contributed to her uncle’s victory “that we have some control over, or some say in,” she suggested it was the media.
She said:
“There are people who actually believed that the economy was better in Donald’s administration. This is categorically untrue. There are people who believed that Biden’s policies were actually Donald’s policies. Categorically untrue. All right, well, they believe those things for a reason. And I’ve been saying this for years now, not that we should ... extend any understanding to the fascists in that base, the white supremacists, the Christian nationalists. No, those are the 25 to 28% of the population who need to be contained. But as for the rest of the voters, these are people who have been lied to constantly for years. We need to do something about that, and that is something that Mary Trump Media is hoping to be at the leading edge of. Creating a strong, independent media that speaks to people’s concerns, and gets the truth out there in a coordinated, consistent way. Because that’s what the right does with lies. They’re very coordinated, their message is very consistent across platforms.”
She added, “We need to figure out how to do that for the good guys, right?”
