Lyft and Uber Are Offering Discounted Rides to the Polls on Election Day — Here's How to Score the Deals
UberEats orders will also be discounted on election night, Nov. 5
Rideshare companies Lyft and Uber are helping voters cast their ballots on Election Day, Nov. 5, with discounted rides to the polls.
“Every American citizen should be able to exercise their right to vote without worrying about the cost or difficulty of getting to the polls,” said David Risher, Lyft CEO, in a press release obtained by PEOPLE.
Lyft is offering 50% off rides, bikes and scooters going to polling locations nationwide on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The discount (up to $10 off) can be claimed with the code: VOTE24.

Lyft has pledged to provide more rides to the polls on Election Day than it did in 2022 and is also sharing voter education resources through strategic partnerships with NAACP, When We All Vote, the League of Women Voters, and VoteRiders. For the 2024 election, Lyft hopes to galvanize young people to vote through the Community College Commitment, a coalition with Showtime/MTV and Levi Strauss & Co to bolster the postsecondary student vote.
There are significantly fewer polling locations available in the 2024 election compared to 2020, which could result in longer travel times and decreased modes of transportation to the polls. But, as Uber stated in a press release of their own, transportation access “shouldn’t be a barrier for any eligible citizen to vote.”
To claim Uber’s Election Day discount, riders can find a “Go Vote” button on the app’s home screen, where they’ll be prompted to enter their home address and find their polling location. Then, voters can request a ride to that location, which will be automatically added as the destination.
