“Grief never ends. But it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor a lack of faith. It’s the price of love,” Nyong’o posted on Instagram, quoting an unknown author. “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”
Nyong’o accompanied the post with a black and white photo of Boseman and a picture of them together smiling.
While promoting A Quiet Place: Day One, Nyong’o revealed that Boseman was in her thoughts throughout filming. In the film, Nyong’o played a poet with terminal cancer fighting for her life against a backdrop of an alien invasion.
“That was daunting to have to go there, psychologically and emotionally,” Nyong’o told People about playing a character who “is really facing their mortality, even before this apocalypse takes place, and whose life is slipping between her fingers.”
