Lunar New Year at Africa's largest Buddhist temple
STORY: Thousands gathered at Africa's largest Buddhist temple on Sunday (January 22) for Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.
The Nan Hua Temple in South Africa's Bronkhorstspruit hosted dragon and lion dances to welcome in the year of the rabbit.
Juedi Shi is a Buddhist nun at the temple.
“Rabbit to most of us is a very gentle animal and it reproduces a lot very fast, so what we hope that this year it’s something like we can learn from the rabbit, to be very gentle and nice and reproduction not in terms of human beings but in terms of making more money, more happier days that kind of production.”
Juedi said the event is an opportunity for "them to know us" and "us to know them".
