A man had to pull himself to safety after he fell into frigid water while visiting Athabasca Falls in Jasper National Park, Alberta, on March 7.
According to Edmonton resident Kelly Shubert, who witnessed the incident alongside his wife and son, the man had been searching for his drone on a ledge by the fast-moving river when he fell in.
In the video, Shubert can be heard yelling “It’s not worth it,” shortly before the man slips into the river.
Speaking to Storyful, Shubert said they were “a minute from calling 911 or going down to try to help when he pulled himself out.”
“This could have ended very badly,” Shubert wrote on Facebook. “Very lucky guy.” Credit: Kelly Shubert via Storyful
