‘Love Island’ U.K. Season 7 Cast Revealed as ITV Bosses Urge Fans to Use Caution on Social Media

ITV’s top dating reality series, “Love Island,” has revealed its contestants — or “Islanders” as they’re known on the show — for its seventh season.

They include self-described “social butterfly” Liberty Poole, a waitress and marketing student; luxury events host Aaron Francis, who has worked at not one but two royal weddings; and “outrageous” civil servant Sharon Gaffka, who, during a stint at the Department of Health, spent part of the pandemic delivering testing kits and managing operations.

The trio will be joined by Hugo Hammond, a perennially single physical education teacher; model and “party girl” Shannon Singh; water engineer Jake Cornish, who recently emerged from a seven-year relationship; and fashion blogger Kaz Kamwi, who describes herself as “dramatic.” “Laid-back” labourer Brad McClelland has also been added to the line-up.

The rest of the cast will be revealed throughout Monday. The show, which is filmed in a Mallorca villa, uses around 69 cameras to catch Islanders’ every move — including their most intimate moments.

This year’s show will be the first summer season since 2019, with last year’s “Love Island” getting canceled due to the pandemic.

It will also be the first summer season to air since the show’s former host, Caroline Flack, died by suicide in February 2020 while awaiting trial for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend. Her death followed that of two other “Love Island” contestants: Sophie Gradon in 2018 and Mike Thalassitis in 2019.

The show, which is one of ITV’s most successful, has come under much scrutiny regarding the wellbeing of its contestants, and last week the network released its updated Duty of Care protocols, which promise social media training, financial advice and therapy sessions following the ending of the season to ensure contestants’ welfare and mental health.

On Sunday, the official “Love Island” instagram account posted a message urging fans of the show to use caution on social media. “Tomorrow we will be revealing the cast for ‘Love Island’ 2021…,” the message read. “These Islanders are all singe and ready to find love. We can’t wait to watch them get to know each other, date and maybe even find the one[.]”

“We’re so grateful they’re letting us follow their journey this summer. We hope you enjoy the show, but please think before you post.”
