Paige Turley and Finn Tapley have been named the winners of Winter Love Island 2020, and while everyone is over the moon for the couple, some fans feel like Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman narrowly missed out on the top spot.

The couple, who went official during their time in the villa with a princess-themed scavenger hunt, came runner up to Paige and Finn during last night's live final. And while it does mean they've missed out on the £50k prize money, a new fan theory suggests coming second is actually very encouraging for their future relationship.

As viewers on Twitter pointed out, many of the Love Island success stories - that is to say, couples who are still together - actually came second following their time in the villa, and are still going strong.

In 2019, Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury came second to Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea, and are happily still together six months later. In 2017, Camilla Thurlow and Jamie Jewitt lost out to Amber Davies and Kem Cetinay on the top spot, but are still very much coupled up. Both winning couples are no longer together.

All the way back in 2016, Alex Bowen and Olivia Buckland came second to Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey - and now both couples are married!

During their declarations of love, Luke and Siannise confessed their true feelings for each other. Siannise said first:

"A few months ago, if I was at home in Bristol and wrote how I imagined by Love Island fairytale would go, it wouldn't even come close to the fairytale you have given me. You make me feel safe, secure, and you've given me the confidence to be 100% myself. I love how mischievous we are together, how much we laugh and the fact I can't be away from you for any more than five minute. You always encourage me to be the best I can be, an I can't wait to be standing by your side at your graduation. I can truly say you're my favourite person in the whole wide world and beyond. I love you."

And then Luke followed with a poem:

"Letter to the Fudge, it's time to bear all my feelings. Our first date brought tonnes of laughter, and that kicked off our spark. And since that night all you've done is continue to fill my heart. We've had our obstacles and triangles, shout out to Rebecca and Wallace. But we'll never step foot in a triangle again, and that I can promise. My feelings somehow have hit higher heights now Bev and John approve, and I know Bristol to Luton is far, but for you I would definitely move. I appreciate your support in my degree, my football and my other endeavours, but I will always support you, like in The Hideaway with those feathers. Siannise, I honestly can't believe I found a real life princess, and life feels enchanted ever since you said yes. I pinky promise to always make your fairytale dreams come true, because from the bottom of my heart I'm proud to say I really do love you.

These two.
