Former Love Island contestant Chloe Crowhurst has said she's in "a lot of pain" after a "serious" car accident.

The reality star shared the news to her Instagram Story on Wednesday with a close-up photo of what appeared to be her sitting in a car wearing a hospital gown, though her face was not visible.

She wrote: "Hi guys, I've just been collected from hospital due to being in a serious car accident. I won't be responding to anyone until I can.

"I'm in a lot of pain, and distress."

Crowhurst appeared on the third series of the ITV2 dating show in 2017.

She was dumped from the island three weeks into the competition, which was eventually won by Kym Cetinay and Amber Davies.

Crowhurst dated season 1 contestant Jon Clark prior to appearing on the show. She shared earlier this year that it was a last-minute decision for her to agree to be on Love Island.

"I called the producers three hours before the flight, quit my job and they was at my house packing my bags for me before I even got home," she said on Scott McGlynn's Celebrity Skin Talk.

"I had no underwear packed or bikinis."

A new series of Love Island is set to start on Monday 28 June. This week saw the new line-up of contestants announced by ITV.
