Love is in the Air: Giant Pandas Leave Scent for Each Other in Australian Zoo

Two giant pandas in South Australia’s Adelaide Zoo left scents for each other as the breeding season approached.

In the footage released on September 24 by Zoos South Australia, a conservation charity, the giant pandas are seen marking trees and rocks in their very short, annual breading season. As reproductive specialists couldn’t travel into the country, the Zoos SA allowed “nature to take its course,” they said in a press release.

“Last year’s attempt at solely natural breeding was extremely positive and we hope that the learnings made from last year will continue this year," Dr Phil Ainsley, Director of Adelaide Zoo said in the release. Credit: Zoos South Australia via Storyful
