Los Angeles County Firefighters Save American Flag From Lake Fire

An American flag was saved by firefighters in Los Angeles County from a property destroyed by the Lake Fire, which grew to 11,637 acres by Friday, August 14, according to authorities.

The fire near Lake Hughes Road started on August 12 and forced the evacuation of local neighborhoods. As of August 14, the fire had destroyed three homes and threatened 5,000 other structures, according to reports.

Los Angeles County Fire crews from Engine 164 are seen in this video working to retrieve an unharmed American flag from near a destroyed structure north of Los Angeles.

“Even as we battle fast spreading flames and dangerous conditions, our members continue to serve with respect and honor,” the fire department wrote on Facebook.

The fire was 11,637 acres and was 12 percent contained as of August 14, officials said.
