Lorries Seen Parked Along Highway Leading to Dover on Christmas Eve

Lorries were seen backed up en route to Dover, England, on Thursday, December 24, as British authorities said drivers waiting to cross to France may be forced to remain on roads through Christmas.

On December 20, French officials closed their border with the UK following the reported spread of a new and possibly more contagious strain of the coronavirus within Britain. Thousands of trucks headed into Europe have become stranded in Kent, where the Port of Dover is located.

On December 22, Britain agreed to test drivers before allowing them to pass onward into France. This footage, taken on Thursday, shows trucks still stuck along the roadway leading towards Dover. Credit: Steve Salter via Storyful
