Long lines were spotted inside and outside of Ontario’s grocery stores on the evening of March 12 and morning of March 13 as residents stocked up on supplies to prepare for a COVID-19 lockdown.

The Ontario government announced on Thursday, March 12, that all publicly funded schools would be closed for two weeks as a precaution against the virus, while public gatherings of over 250 people would be suspended, according to Global News. Social distancing was also encouraged as much as possible to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus.
