Lava began spewing from Iceland’s long-dormant Fagradalsfjall volcano on March 21.
Footage by Reykjavik resident Andri Magnason, who headed out to see the rare eruption early Sunday morning, shows lava flowing from the volcano.
Fagradalsfjall is on the Reykjanes Peninsula, about an hour’s drive from the capital.
The Icelandic Meteorological Office said the eruption was small and had followed an uptick in seismic activity in the region. Credit: Andri Snær Magnason via Storyful
