Long Delays at Florida Gas Stations After Pipeline Cyberattack

Long lines were seen outside gas stations in Florida and other southeastern states on May 10, amid fears of shortages due to the shutdown of the Colonial Gas Pipeline following a cyber attack.

The pipeline network ships more than 2.5 million barrels per day of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, approximately 45 percent of fuel consumption on the East Coast, according to AL.com.

Long lines and gas shortages were also reported in Georgia and the Carolinas.

“After an hour of driving, I found a closer gas station to home and waited another 30 minutes in line to pump gas,” Barrera told Storyful. Credit: Enrique Barrera via Storyful
