Britney Spears has updated the lyrics to her 1998 hit “…Baby One More Time” amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The singer posted a picture on Instagram on Tuesday (7 April) of an illustrated Spears holding up a bottle of sanitiser, next to the words, “My loneliness is saving me” instead of the song’s original lyrics, “My loneliness is killing me.”

In the caption, Spears wrote: “Enough said, and thank you to all of the healthcare workers tirelessly working to keep us safe during this time !!!!”

Last month, Spears called for the redistribution of wealth amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Her post went viral, with many referring to Spears as “Comrade Britney”.

Spears has been asking fans to direct message her if they need anything during the coronavirus outbreak.

Other celebrities who have offered to help the relief effort during the pandemic include Madonna, who donated $1m to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in order to help create a vaccine for coronavirus.

Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande have also donated money to fans who are struggling financially because of the crisis.
