City of London Police have launched an appeal to find a man who administered a fake COVID-19 vaccine to a 92-year-old woman in her home and told her to pay him £160 (about USD$217).
Police said the man went to the address on December 30. He told the woman he was from the NHS and there to administer the COVID-19 vaccine, police said.
The victim allowed the man inside her home and was jabbed in the arm with what she described as a “dart-like implement.” The man then asked for £160, which the victim paid as he said it would be reimbursed by the NHS, before leaving the premises, police said.
Video released by the police shows the same man attending the victim’s address again on January 4. Police said he asked for a further £100.
“It is not yet known what substance, if any, was administered to the victim, but she was checked over at her local hospital and has suffered no ill effects following this encounter,” police said in the statement. Credit: City of London Police via Storyful
