KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 — Datuk Lokman Noor Adam is an Umno member again.

Lokman took to Facebook just after midnight with a letter signed by party secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan showing that its supreme council (MKT) had decided in a meeting last night to nullify his expulsion as a member back in February 2020.

“I’m back as an Umno supreme council member,” he posted.

He said party deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had also told him about the decision through a phone call.

“Thank you president, deputy president, MKT members and all who prayed for me.

“With this nullification my right to contest in the upcoming party elections is returned. Alhamdulillah,” he added.

Lokman was known as a staunch backer of then Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

What exactly led to his expulsion was unclear but former Umno secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa claimed Lokman was “untruthful in many matters”, and that he had also attempted to create friction between Najib and the current party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Umno is holding its much deferred party elections next month.

All posts except for the presidency and deputy presidency are up for grabs.
