"Locke and Key"'s Connor Jessup Says His Relationship with "13RW"'s Miles Heizler Made Him Want to Go Public With His Sexuality
Locke and Key star Connor Jessup revealed to Attitude why he decided to go public with his relationship with 13 Reasons Why's Miles Heizler.
He confirmed that they have been dating for over a year.
Connor posted a photo of him and Miles for Valentine's Day earlier this month.
Connor Jessup is done hiding his sexuality and his adorable relationship with 13 Reasons Why star Miles Heizler.
The Locke and Key actor talked to Attitude magazine about why he felt it was the right time to reveal publicly that he's gay. He said that it all came down to his relationship with Miles and how the 13 Reasons Why star is the reason he is able to be public about his sexuality.
"I’ll spare you the boring story of how we met because it’s truly unexciting, but I will say — not to get sappy — that the other factor that led to me deciding to come out, and I guess maybe one of the sparks at the beginning of the fuse, was that I fell in love", Connor said.
"When you’re happy, you want to be happy publicly, and it made me think about the whole construction of my life in a way that I had been avoiding. I probably wouldn’t have [come out] if that hadn’t happened."
He also said that the reason why he never publicly said that he was gay was because he wasn't dating at the time, but also because people automatically assume he's straight.
"The excuse was always that I was busy working and there was never the time to meet people — that’s all true to an extent, but also I think I was afraid," he said. "There’s still this phenomenon where you can be out like I was, but in my day-to-day life, I wasn’t doing anything that would make people think I was gay."
Connor continued by saying that his relationship with Miles had changed a lot of things for him, including his experiences with love.
"I wasn’t in a relationship and I wasn’t looking to be because I was ignoring that part of me. I put myself on pause for a while. So, I had relationships, but nothing like the one I’m in right now. This is my first time being in love."
On Valentine's Day, Connor posed a photo of himself with Miles with the caption, "I’m late but I love you, you’re good, you make me better, happy v+1 day 💚" on Instagram, revealing his relationship to fans.
