Locals Help Clean Rubbish-Strewn Marseille Beaches After Flooding

Volunteers helped clean the beaches of Marseille, France, on October 6, after rain washed up a huge amount of trash on the city’s shores.

Locals woke on October 4 to find 173 mm of rainfall had fallen overnight. The resulting floodwater carried off trash that had piled up during a sanitation strike, local news said, much of it washing back ashore along city beaches.
