Liza Soberano hopes Duterte considers ABS-CBN franchise renewal

20 Jan – Liza Soberano really hopes that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is not serious about his threats to refuse the renewal of ABS-CBN's franchise.

As reported on Inquirer, the actress who was asked about the conflict between Duterte and her home network, stated that the president is well aware that a lot of people will be affected by the shutdown of ABS-CBN if the company fails to get a renewal.

"I know he has a generous and understanding heart. I hope he wakes up one morning and thinks about it again. I hope he opens his heart for all the employees who would lose their jobs if this happens," she said.

Her onscreen partner Enrique Gil admitted that he too is worried about the employees of the said network, as there is a possibility that everybody would lose their job.

"I just hope for the best," he added.

The two stars were not the first to express their thoughts about the conflict, as Sharon Cuneta previously made a public plea to the president to do the right thing.

Duterte has been threatening the network for the past couple of years since he became the president, after accusing ABS-CBN of refusing to air his presidential campaign in 2016.
