Liverpool have ‘reached an agreement’ with a Premier League club over a midfielder, while Mauricio Pochettino wants Inter’s Lautaro Martinez at Chelsea.

Recent reports have indicated that Pochettino has ‘agreed’ to become Chelsea’s new permanent manager and he has already started the process of assembling his squad for next season.

The ex-Spurs boss has decisions to make over the futures of Romelu Lukaku and Mason Mount this summer, while Chelsea are being linked with a surprise move for Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane.

And Football Insider are now reporting that ‘Chelsea are keen on Inter Milan striker Martínez and have looked into a potential deal this summer’.

Martinez is a ‘real target’ and he is ‘available for around £70m’. Pochettino reportedly ‘mentioned a move for Martinez during talks with the club’ as he has ‘hailed’ the Argentina international ‘as one of the best strikers in world football’.

The report points out that Man Utd are ‘tracking him as they search for their own new number nine’ but ‘Chelsea are now keen to join the race for his signature after a glowing endorsement from their next manager’.

The Reds are likely to sign two or three new midfielders this summer and Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister has emerged as one of their top targets after they stepped away from the chase for Jude Bellingham.

The World Cup winner has been in stunning form this season for Brighton and he is reportedly ‘100%’ expected to leave this summer.

Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim ‘Brighton and Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of Mac Allister’.

Liverpool are said to have ‘offered’ 60 million euros (£53m) for the centre-midfielder after this fee was ‘requested’ by Brighton so there is an ‘understanding’ between the two clubs.

The transfer is apparently not finalised yet, though. Mac Allister ‘wants to play in a team that plays in the next Champions League’ and he ‘intends to wait until the end of the season before deciding’ his next move.

This reported fee is probably too low, with it being widely reported elsewhere that Brighton actually want £70m for their prized asset, who is also admired by Man Utd.

Declan Rice is another Premier League midfielder expected to be on the move this summer. He is under contract until 2024 though West Ham are able to extend his deal on the same terms until 2025.

The Hammers are expected to cash in this summer, with ESPN reporting that they are ‘demanding £100m’ for their prized asset.

Rice has been one of the Premier League’s best midfielders in recent seasons and he has also made a significant impact for England at major tournaments.

Arsenal are keen to ‘pursue a deal’ for Rice, while ‘Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Liverpool are monitoring developments’.

The Gunners are said to be looking for two midfielders this summer and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo is another player on their ‘shortlist’.

Rice is hoping to move on as he has ‘made little secret of his desire to compete for trophies at the highest level’ and he’s ‘rejected multiple offers’ from West Ham ‘to extend his contract on improved terms’.
