Alexis Mac Allister is not the only high-quality Brighton star Liverpool want to sign as they have also been ‘confirmed’ as being interested in one of his team-mates, though Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are also in the mix.

Having admitted defeat in their chase to sign Jude Bellingham last month, Liverpool have since turned their attention to Mac Allister to improve their midfield. On Saturday, it emerged Liverpool had ‘reached a verbal agreement’ with Mac Allister on personal terms.

Liverpool must now reach an agreement with Brighton over a transfer fee before the move can go ahead.

And as per the Irish Independent, they could sign Mac Allister for a discounted price by including backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher in the deal. Brighton value the Argentine at between £60-70million but will accept £40m if they get Kelleher in return.

However, Mac Allister is not the only Seagulls ace Liverpool want. According to 90Min, they have a ‘confirmed’ interest in fellow midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The 21-year-old tried to leave Brighton in January amid offers from Arsenal and Chelsea. He even submitted a transfer request.

However, Caicedo remained on the south coast as Brighton told him they did not want to let him leave mid-season and that they would instead evaluate the situation in the summer.

90Min reveal that Brighton would ideally like to sell just Mac Allister this summer and keep all of their other coveted stars. However, if a bid worth more than £80m arrives for Caicedo, then Brighton chiefs will have to consider a sale.

Liverpool want two Brighton players

Liverpool are big admirers of Caicedo and believe he could continue his excellent midfield partnership with Mac Allister at Anfield. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side are far from the only team who want to snap the Ecuador international up.

Man Utd’s interest in him has also been ‘confirmed’, while Arsenal and Chelsea have been keeping an eye on the situation after failing to complete his signing in the winter.

Plus, there is Manchester City. They have earmarked Caicedo as a potential alternative to Bellingham, should the Dortmund star head to Real Madrid.

Liverpool can leave all of those transfer rivals in the dust by thundering in with an £80m proposal for Caicedo. However, there is one big problem with this.

Liverpool pulled out of the race for Bellingham due to him costing between £115-135m. The Reds did not want to spend this much on one player as it would leave Klopp with barely anything to improve other positions in the team, such as centre-back.

By spending £40m plus Kelleher on Mac Allister and £80m on Caicedo, Liverpool would be solving their midfield woes by bringing in two top Premier League performers in the area. But as with the Bellingham deal, this would force them to give up on signing defensive recruits.

Caicedo will almost certainly be one of the most talked about players of the summer as so many teams are hunting his signature. Liverpool are clearly very keen, but it remains to be seen if they can afford him in addition to Mac Allister.

What is certain is that Caicedo will be representing a top Champions League club in the next few seasons. He has been sensational for Brighton and deserves such a transfer.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are ‘crying out for’ the capture of one England player, while he has been urged to avoid Man Utd for one key reason.
