Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield are showing off their rom-com chops in John Crowley’s “We Live in Time.” A24 released the trailer for the romantic comedy, set for an Oct. 11 limited theatrical release.

The film follows Almut (Pugh), an up-and-coming chef and Tobias (Garfield), a recent divorcée over multiple decades as the pair fall in love after a surprise encounter. Per the film’s official logline: “Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield) are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. Through snapshots of their life together — falling for each other, building a home, becoming a family — a difficult truth is revealed that rocks its foundation. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken, in filmmaker John Crowley’s decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.”

The trailer shows their relationship grow across 10 years, from when Almut accidentally hits Tobias with her car to when they tell their young daughter how they met.

After Pugh and Garfield presented the screenplay prizes together at the 2023 Oscars ceremony, it was revealed that the “Dune: Part Two” and “The Amazing Spider-Man” stars would be working together on the cinematic love story.

“We Live in Time” will world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. At Cannes Film Festival in 2023, the Paris-based film production and distribution company StudioCanal sold the movie to A24 for U.S. distribution.

Nick Payne, who has worked as a writer on “The Crown” and penned Netflix’s 2021 rom-com “The Last Letter From Your Lover,” wrote the screenplay and developed the script with StudioCanal.

The film is executive produced by Benedict Cumberbatch via his company SunnyMarch alongside Leah Clarke, Adam Ackland and Guy Heeley. Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin also produce for StudioCanal.
