Little Mix star Perrie Edwards reveals serious back injury: ‘I die every time we dance’
Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has revealed that she has a back injury that makes it difficult to dance.
The star – who is currently appearing in the band’s singing competition, The Search on BBC One – is also promoting the group’s forthcoming album, Confetti.
During a recent Twitter Q&A with fans, Perrie said: “I recently found out I have a slipped disk and tear in the base of my back/spine and I die every time we dance. But it's worth it."
Perrie and her bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson are currently mentoring singers for Little Mix: The Search, a new reality series that aims to find the next big pop group.
In a four-star review, The Independent’s Roisin O’Connor wrote that the series is “a kinder approach to TV talent competitions”.
“The X Factor’s stock-in-trade has too often been the humiliation of its auditionees, many of whom are invited on the show precisely because they can’t sing,” she wrote.
“But Little Mix are clear from the off that they’re looking for real talent. While each episode involves a mixed bag of singing abilities, the show never feels cruel for airing them. The comedy comes from the group themselves, who often come off as younger, savvier Loose Women. They flirt, crack jokes, and send themselves up rather than adopt the aloofness of Cowell and his X Factor judges.”
