Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall has come out on top after taking a hilarious swipe at Noel Gallagher on music panel show Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

The High Flying Birds frontman had insulted The X Factor winners after they became the first girlband to with The Brit Award for British Group, saying they were "not in the same league as Oasis".

Thirlwall, 28, addressed Gallagher's comments when she appeared on the quiz show, saying: "Noel did [insult us]. Which was a real shame because as you know I'm a big fan of High Flying Birds s***ting on us."

"Yeah, shame really, because you know, we are definitely the most successful girl group in the country, but he’s not even the most successful performer in his family!"

Thirlwall and her Little Mix bandmates — Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock — made history as the first all-female band to win the Brit Award for British Group at the ceremony in May this year.

Afterwards Gallagher, 54, said: "Little Mix, with the greatest respect, are not in the same league as Oasis. Not even in the same f***ing sport.

"It’s a symptom of the music business chasing the numbers – and there not being any bands or songwriters in those bands."

Oasis won the award in 1996.
