Little Mix have criticised this year's Brit Awards for a lack of women in some of the categories.

Before the ceremony began in London, with ITV and YouTube airing it live, group member Leigh-Anne Pinnock tweeted: "Whose excited for the @BRITs tonight? So good to see the genre diversity with some influential grime artists nominated.

"But there are so many female bosses who aren't up, come on @brits where's the ladies at? So many are smashing it right now! Ladies we see u! Leigh x"

The categories New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year and Group of the Year did not contain any women at all, while Song of the Year was very male-heavy.

Foals similarly called for more female inclusion in the category when they accepted their award for Group of the Year.

Tonight's Brit Awards show featured a touching tribute from host Jack Whitehall to presenter Caroline Flack, who tragically died over the weekend.

The show's broadcast on television also censored an acceptance speech from Lewis Capaldi, who was muted for about half a minute. Viewers who watched on YouTube were able to hear what he actually said.

2020 looks to be a very busy year for the Little Mix girls. They're heading out on tour, which includes a headline spot at the British Summer Time festival in London, and launching their own talent-finding show titled Little Mix: The Search, which will air on BBC One.
