It may only be September, but the cast of Hulu's hit drama series Little Fires Everywhere is already ringing in the New Year.

The series's stars, including Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon, reunited for a small and intimate backyard get-together for their virtual appearance during this year's Emmy Awards ceremony. The crew wore 2021 New Year's gear, including party hats and signature eyeglasses, and decked out the yard with golden streamers, candles, and flowers.

"We're ready for this year to be over," Witherspoon explained to Jimmy Kimmel, the 2020 Emmys host.

When asked if it was that simple to end the year, she responded coyly, "Of course. We're Emmy-nominated television producers."

The gang counted down to their "new" year, a climactic moment that usually elicits affection and embraces during typical pre-COVID-19 celebrations. Kimmel told them, "I wish I could kiss you guys too."

Washington responded cheekily, "No, we don't want that. Thank you!"

Both Washington and Witherspoon shared behind-the-scenes moments from their mini party on Instagram.

Washington dressed for the occasion in a sparkling Dolce & Gabbana gown featuring leopard print and bejeweled black fringe. She also wore green drop Chopard earrings. "Haven't dressed up in a while so had to make the most of it," she wrote in the Instagram caption.

Meanwhile, Witherspoon rung in the "new" year in a classic black dress by Louis Vuitton. She wrote, "Shortest #Emmys commute yet! Bringing the festivities to my lawn and excited to celebrate the incredible cast and crews of @themorningshow, @biglittlelies and @littlefireshulu tonight! ✨"

Little Fires Everywhere was nominated for Outstanding Limited Series. Washington was also up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, but ultimately lost to Regina King, who won for her role in Watchmen.
