Developers often place a lot of emphasis on the property’s unique concept and overall aesthetic. However, they may be lacking from a functional standpoint for the seniors and handicapped among us.

According to the Persons with Disabilities Act 2008, persons with disabilities includes those who have long term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments.

And when it comes to interaction with various barriers, those impairments may hinder their full and effective participation in society.

Currently, Malaysia has a few codes of practice in place, which lay out the guidelines for qualifying a property as disabled-friendly:

For a development to qualify as disabled-friendly, it would have to adhere to the specific guidelines as stated in MS 1184.
