Lionsgate Ups Kate Nexon, Chase Brisbin Amid TV Distribution Reorg

Lionsgate is reconfiguring its worldwide television distribution operations and promoting two executives as it looks to capitalize on the demand for premium content in an ever-competitive market, with more personnel announcements expected in the weeks to come.

Kate Nexon, most recently senior vice president of North American TV and digital sales, has been upped to executive vice president of domestic TV and digital distribution, where her duties have been expanded to focus on the domestic SVOD market. Chase Brisbin, most recently senior VP of global SVOD, has been elevated to executive vice president of international TV and digital distribution, and is shifting her focus to expanding the studio’s content business with new international platforms.

Together, they oversee the distribution and licensing of Lionsgate’s 17,000-title film and TV library, feature films, first-run TV series and Starz programming. Nexon and Brisbin were key members of the team that negotiated the syndication of “Mad Men” to Amazon Prime Video internationally and IMDb TV domestically.

Nexon, who has been with the company for 12 years, has been responsible for licensing its TV and film properties across domestic linear and digital platforms, leading U.S. sales and overseeing strategy planning.

“Kate is an invaluable member of our television distribution family with the perfect skills to catapult our domestic streaming business as more SVOD and AVOD players enter the media ecosystem and windowing continues to change,” said Lionsgate president of worldwide TV distribution Jim Packer. “She has the strategic vision to align our distribution business with a rapidly evolving environment, and Kate and Chase’s promotions allow us to bring specialized expertise to the content needs of our partners while positioning the Company for continued growth.”

Brisbin has been with Lionsgate since 2012 and held various roles, brokering deals with Netflix, Amazon and Hulu and creating new business models with newer platforms. She negotiated the deals to bring “Manhunt: Deadly Games” and “Ramy” to Starzplay in more than 50 countries, as well as several Pay 1 and Pay 2 output deals with streamers.

“Chase is a skilled strategist who has negotiated some of our most innovative worldwide content deals,” said Lionsgate president of international TV and digital distribution Agapy Kapouranis. “She is a consummate professional and a fantastic dealmaker and her business acumen has played a critical role in establishing Lionsgate as a partner of choice to international buyers.”
