There's plenty more hijinks ahead in Freaky Friday 2, according to Lindsay Lohan.

"It's going to be a really freaky Friday," the actress, 37, said with a laugh of the sequel during an appearance on Good Morning America June 27. "Much freakier than you would expect."

More than 20 years after their original comedy, Lohan and costar Jamie Lee Curtis are bringing their body-switching mother-daughter characters, Anna and Tess Coleman, back for a sequel.

In her GMA interview, Lohan said there has been "a lot of love, a lot of fun, a lot of laughs" on set of the new movie, for which Lohan is taking guitar lessons and in which her character is now a mom to a daughter of her own.

In the two decades since 2003's Freaky Friday, Lohan said she and Curtis, 65, "have stayed in touch."

"They always say when you have a best friend or someone that you're really close with, if you cannot see them for years and years but when you see them again it's like you've never separated," she added.

Plans for another Freaky Friday were first reported in 2022, when Curtis confirmed to PEOPLE there was "lots of good talk going on" about a followup.

When the film celebrated its 20-year anniversary in May 2023, Curtis and Lohan reunited for a chat with The New York Times, where the latter said she would also be open to another movie.

An announcement shared to X by Walt Disney Studios on June 24, confirmed that the sequel is now in production and set to hit theaters next year.

In the accompanying snapshot, Curtis and Lohan have fittingly swapped places, both sitting on the steps of the other star's trailer as they held hands.

"We’re back!" Lohan captioned a fun video of the photoshoot.

Adding to the celebratory news, Curtis posted a snapshot of pillows featuring her and Lohan's faces on them, making a reference to the sequin effect in her caption. "FLIP IT AND REVERSE IT! @disney @disneystudios @lindsaylohan," the Oscar winner wrote.
