Lin Chi-Ling to donate sanitary napkins to the needy

23 May – Lin Chi-Ling has recently launched a campaign to help end period poverty in collaboration with popular brand Whisper.

As reported on HK01, the Taiwanese actress is currently involved in the "buy a pack and donate a piece" project via her Chiling Charity Foundation, and will be donating 40,000 pieces of sanitary napkins to primary schools in rural Taiwan and placement facilities for girls.

Lin Jianhong, President of the brand in Hong Kong and Taiwan, stated, "The Chiling Charity Foundation has been a good partner in working on women's health issues for many years. The founder of the foundation, Lin Chi-Ling, has served as an ambassador for the brand's cancer prevention and control for 15 consecutive years."

"This year, the two parties have joined forces with online shopping websites to make the public more aware of and pay attention to the issue of period poverty, and at the same time, use the spirit of common good to transform consumption into demand materials, and help girls in remote villages and midway resettlement institutions to gradually build up their self-confidence and brave pursuit of dreams and future."

According to Medical News Today, period poverty is a lack of access to menstrual products, education, hygiene facilities, waste management, or a combination of these. It affects an estimated 500 million women worldwide.
