Lily Allen has hit back at body shamers who took to her Instagram comments to say they were "worried" about the singer, suggesting she was "too thin".

The comments appeared when the 36-year-old shared a video of herself behind the scenes on The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan.

"Hi, I'm Lily Allen and I'm here with Mo for The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan," she says in the video. "I've got to be quiet because everyone is talking around."

"But it is very lovely to be here, Mo's very funny, there's lots of great music happening and it's so nice to be in front of an audience after all this time. Loving it."

While the comments have since been deleted, Buzzfeed reports one user wrote, "Worried about you Lily. I feel like we've grown up together and I've never seen you this thin.

"Your fans care about you, your health and we love you very much. Please take care dear."

Allen quickly responded, "You've never seen me two years completely sober, not smoking and exercising every day."

In another comment, the Smile hitmaker retorted, "Seriously, where do you get off? You know NOTHING about me or my lifestyle. How dare you."

Some fans came out in support of Allen with one writing, "Commenting on someone's weight isn't it. Even if you are just 'concerned'. Even if she did have an ED, she does not need to hear commentary on their bodies from strangers on the Internet. Regardless of if it is from a place of concern.

"Do you really think your comment will help? No, she has people that are there to support her in REAL LIFE. So STOP obsessing over someone else's body and weight. It's weird behaviour and it must end. Periodt (sic)."

The singer began overhauling her diet almost two years ago, giving up alcohol and quitting smoking.

Lily has previously spoken about dealing with an eating disorder, telling Cosmopolitan in 2018, "I was gearing up to do promo for the second album. That’s when I started not eating, when I started thinking about having to do photoshoots and red carpets."
