Model Lila Moss, who has type 1 diabetes, praised for wearing insulin pump on runway: ‘You’re an inspiration’

Lila Moss is receiving praise for representing those living with diabetes during her runway appearance for Fendi x Versace at Milan Fashion Week.

The 18-year-old model joined her mother Kate Moss as one of the women walking the show. But it wasn't the mother-daughter duo that caught people's attention. Instead, it was the insulin pump that Lila proudly kept on display while strutting in a bodysuit.

Lila posted photos from the show to her Instagram, along with her gratitude for the very designers who included her. And while she didn't make mention of the Omnipod attached to her leg, countless supporters took to the comment section to point it out.

"Yes! BODY, WALK AND POD," one person commented. Another wrote, "OMNIPOD QUEEEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!!!!"

The Omnipod is a wireless insulin management system used by diabetics. In Lila's case, it's used for her type 1 diabetes — a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin that usually appears in childhood, according to the Mayo Clinic. While less common than type 2 diabetes, many people living with type 1 diabetes have shared their excitement over the moment.

"Absolutely love that you don’t hide your pod, you’re an inspiration to so many living with T1 diabetes," one person wrote.

"As a fellow T1 diabetic (and ex model), THANK YOU for wearing your device on the freaking runway! You are a queen and I want these pics everywhere cos the more we share of T1 diabetes the better," commented another.

Parents of children with type 1 diabetes also praised Lila for providing representation for their young kids. A Scotland-based charity also gave a shoutout to the model.

"T1DDOESNTSTOPME is our motto and celebrities proving this goes a long way to raising awareness and understanding!" the organization tweeted. "What a Warrior."
