The Cumbre Vieja volcano on the Spanish island of La Palma spewed clouds of ash and other material on November 4, creating volcanic lightning.
On Wednesday, explosions showered ash on nearby pine forests. On Thursday, sulfur dioxide levels on the western part of La Palma improved, but smaller particles spewed by the volcano remained a problem, El Pais reported.
This footage, taken on Thursday afternoon, shows large amounts of smoke and ash emerging from the volcano. Lightning is visible amid the clouds at about 14 seconds into the video. The phenomenon has previously been noted above Cumbre Vieja by the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute. Credit: idafe.com via Storyful
