Lightning lit up the sky in Hale County, Alabama, on Thursday, March 10, as the National Weather Service (NWS) reported batches of rain and storms across the region.

Footage recorded by Thomas Parker was described as showing intense flashes of lightning in the night sky over Newbern .

The NWS warned that a cluster of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will spread eastward across Bibb, southern Shelby, and northern Chilton counties through 5am on Friday. Credit: Thomas Parker via Storyful
