Lightning Flashes Above McKinney Fire Burning in Northern California
The McKinney Fire burning in northern California grew dramatically on Saturday, July 30, jumping at least 12,000 acres in a single day, officials reported.
The fire covered approximately 18,000 acres as of 8.45 am local time on Saturday but exploded to between 30,000 and 40,000 acres by 4 pm, the Forest Service for Klamath in Siskiyou County said.
Multiple mandatory evacuation orders were in place for areas just south of the California-Oregon border.
