Liar aired the second episode of series two tonight (March 9), and viewers are already struggling to keep up with the plot.

Picking up from the end of the last series, which ended with the mysterious murder of serial rapist Andrew Earlham (Ioan Gruffudd), Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt), one of his victims, is now the prime suspect in DI Renton's investigation.

While viewers believe that Laura is innocent, it still remains unclear who killed Andrew. But the mystery unravelled just a little bit more tonight as flashbacks revealed what he got up to in the moments before his death.

Except, the constant jumping around between timelines left many viewers confused and unable to register when the events were actually taking place.

"Omg I am so confused with all this 3 weeks ago and jumping about. Is this all before she drugged him and got him in the car? Beyond confused and too much time jumping for me," tweeted one person.

Another wrote: "Watching #Liar with mum. Seems parents get confused by anything with a jump in timeline. She just asked me who Andrew was. Yep she watched the first series too."

"I must be real tired, I forgot they were doing this. I loveeee a non-linear timeline but this is getting confusing now and this is something I'm actually good at keeping up with," added another.

Liar continues next Monday (March 16) at 9pm on ITV.
