'The Level is Constantly Rising': Damaging Floods Hit Crete

Dramatic footage from the Greek island of Crete on November 10 showed devastation from floods caused by heavy rain.

Local reports said Hersonissos, a town in the north of Crete, was one of the hardest hit areas, with flooding recorded in nearby areas of Stalis, Analipsi, Agriana and Gournes. Videos showed cars being swept away as streets were turned into rivers.

The Directorate of Technical Works of the Region of Crete on Tuesday warned residents to limit their movements after heavy rain caused flooding and road blockages.

Local reports said emergency services had received more than 100 calls for assistance.
